Discover Greece’s Timeless Allure: Highlights from the 11th Mediterranean Yacht Show

The 11th Mediterranean Yacht Show: A Celebration of Luxury Yachting in Greece

The 11th Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS), held in the historic Greek port town of Nafplio, continues to solidify Greece’s status as a premier luxury yacht charter destination. The event brought together an impressive array of crewed charter yachts, offering brokers a detailed glimpse into the latest yachts, noteworthy refits, and evolving guest experiences that are set to shape the 2026 season.

A Unique Experience Despite the Weather

This year’s MEDYS was marked by unusually cold spring weather, but it did little to dampen the spirits of attendees. The energy and optimism throughout the show were palpable. “This was probably the coldest MEDYS that I have ever attended,” reflected LJ Houghting from CharterWorld. “But needless to say, it is always exceptionally well executed, highlighting the beauty of Nafplio, Greek culture, and the remarkable yachts, crew, and chefs.”

Fresh Yacht Line-Up and Standout Refits

A prominent theme at MEDYS 2026 was the impressive variety and freshness of the attending fleet. Charter brokers noted the growing number of new entrants and the outstanding quality of recent refits that provide clients with enhanced charter options across Greece. Colin Srivastava, a charter broker, remarked on the high standard of yachts at the show: “There were numerous new attendees, with the standard, variety, freshness, and interest very high on all counts.”

Several yachts caught the eye of brokers. For instance, the elegant motor yacht PERSEFONI was celebrated for its stylish interior and enthusiastic crew. Meanwhile, PERSEUS amazed with spacious interiors, a master balcony, and an expansive deck layout, which created an impressive sense of space.

Noteworthy refits also stole the spotlight, with yachts like SOJO and TALIA drawing attention for their exceptional renovations and dedicated crews. As Colin noted, both yachts represented outstanding examples of what modern charters can offer.

For those interested in catamaran charters in Greece, SAMELI emerged as a favorite, offering a beautiful blend of comfort and performance.

    Family-Friendly Charters on the Rise

Family charters remain a dominant trend within the Greek yacht charter market. Many vessels now cater specifically to multi-generational groups and young guests. LJ pointed out, “Most of the yachts attending this show are extremely well-equipped for families with young children, and the crew are well versed in entertaining them.”

One standout was the 33m Custom Line DALOLI, recognized for its impressive array of water sports, guest-friendly layout, and attentive crew. The 50m Codecasa MARIU impressed attendees with its crew synergy, culinary expertise—thanks to Chef Javier—and overall value for money. Meanwhile, the 56m Benetti AELIA promised a luxurious experience, with features including an elevator, cinema room, and two master suites.

At the ultra-luxury end, the 71m explorer yacht KOGO made a striking impression, embodying the essence of what a superyacht should offer.

The Enduring Appeal of Greece as a Charter Destination

Beyond the impressive yachts, brokers unanimously agreed that Greece remains unparalleled in terms of consistency, experienced crews, and extraordinary cruising diversity. Colin highlighted this aspect perfectly: “While other destinations come and go in vogue according to cycles, Greece remains an excellent destination. Owner involvement and investment, consistently high-performing crews, and multiple cruising grounds continue to underpin its success.”

From the Cyclades to the Ionian Islands, Saronic Gulf, and the Dodecanese, Greece provides uniquely distinct charter experiences. This diversity ensures that both first-time charterers and seasoned yacht guests find compelling reasons to explore its waters.

As MEDYS continues to grow and evolve, it reinforces not only the strength of the Greek yacht charter market but also the increasing focus on personalized service, innovative refits, and exceptional onboard experiences that captivate luxury charter clients from across the globe.
