This week marked the official recommissioning of the newest addition to One Ocean Expeditions, the RCGS Resolute. Originally built in 1993, this vessel was designed specifically for polar exploration. It was formerly known as M/V Hanseatic, and notably, it became the first non-Russian passenger ship to traverse the Northeast Passage. As One Ocean Expeditions celebrates its 10th anniversary, the addition of the Resolute signifies the company’s commitment to expanding its offerings in adventure travel.

The RCGS Resolute stands out as the inaugural ship to bear the name of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, a well-respected institution that partners with One Ocean Expeditions. The dual significance of the name is noteworthy; it honors both the Inuit town of Resolute in Canada and the HMS Resolute, a British exploration ship from 1850 that famously explored the Arctic regions. This rich historical context enhances the experience for passengers who will board this newly commissioned vessel.

Accommodating approximately 146 guests, the ship features 74 spacious exterior cabins and suites, emphasizing comfort during polar voyages. Onboard amenities include a saltwater pool, sauna, a comprehensive spa, and two dining rooms, which are crafted to provide a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. Every One Ocean Expeditions cruise is designed to be all-inclusive, offering photography workshops, insightful educational presentations, and essential expedition gear such as insulated boots, waterproof backpacks, and trekking poles—all to ensure guests are well-prepared for their adventures.

The RCGS Resolute will initially embark on its first voyages in November 2018, focusing on the majestic landscapes of Antarctica. However, come June 2019, the vessel will shift its sails northward to explore the Arctic. This season will include breathtaking journeys through the North Atlantic, the picturesque Faroe Islands, and multiple excursions throughout both the Canadian Arctic and Greenland. Passengers can expect unparalleled opportunities for wildlife sightings, stunning scenery, and a touch of adventure that characterizes Arctic travel.

Rates for Arctic itineraries begin at $5,695, offering a comprehensive experience for those eager to explore some of the planet’s most remote landscapes. For detailed information or to plan your adventure, guests can reach out by calling 855.416.2326 or visiting oneoceanexpeditions.com.
