Gabriele Teruzzi: A Visionary Approach to Hargrave’s Superyachts

In the competitive world of luxury yachting, collaboration often breeds innovation. Hargrave Custom Yachts has recently embraced this idea, partnering with international designers to introduce new aesthetic dimensions while maintaining its hallmark engineering integrity. The latest addition to this collaborative spirit is the Hargrave Signature E-Series Tri-Deck, designed by Gabriele Teruzzi, a young Italian designer with a wealth of experience in the superyacht industry.

The Signature E-Series has quickly become one of Hargrave’s most successful product lines. The journey began in 2023 with the delivery of the 116-foot (36-meter) yacht Romeo Foxtrot, quickly followed by a larger 118-footer for the same owners in 2024. This success has continued, with two additional E-Series megayachts already delivered, while a 132-foot (40-meter) model is expected next year.

This distinct range spans lengths from 108 to 132 feet (33 to 40 meters), boasting sporty and chic lines that have proven to resonate with a younger demographic of buyers. Key design features such as floor-to-ceiling glass, lower bulkheads, and full-beam interiors create a sense of openness and connectivity with the sea, characteristics that are increasingly in demand.

Gabriele Teruzzi is no newcomer to the marine design scene. He founded Gabriele Teruzzi Yachts & Design a decade ago after several fruitful years at AM Yacht Design, the acclaimed studio founded by Alberto Mancini. His experience spans various successful productions for renowned brands like Fairline, Azimut, and Mangusta. Since establishing his own studio, Teruzzi has also collaborated with major shipyards like Lürssen and Fincantieri Yachts, designing concepts for yachts ranging up to 361 feet (110 meters).

For the Hargrave Signature E-Series Tri-Deck, Teruzzi sought inspiration in the arts, particularly classical music. He envisioned the yacht’s design to mirror musical elements—characterized by rhythm and harmony—ensuring that every aspect serves a purpose. Nothing extraneous or overly flamboyant features in his designs. As an Italian designer, Teruzzi incorporates materials that reflect his rich cultural heritage, utilizing exquisite marbles and leathers that speak to the elegance of Italy. His use of a light color palette brings warmth and enhances natural light, creating spaces that are beautiful and timeless.

Choice and versatility are paramount in the designs of the Signature E-Series. Hargrave and Teruzzi offer two distinct layouts, differing mainly in the lounge area. Owners can opt for a traditional enclosed lounge or choose an innovative “Veranda Deck” configuration that transforms the leisure area into an almost-open-air space, ideal for enjoying the sea breeze while still enjoying the comfort of the yacht.
