Tankoa Yachts Unveils Spirit: A Wellness-Centric Yacht Experience

Spirit Lets Sail: A Celebration of Tradition and Innovation

On July 11, a distinct and meaningful event took place at Tankoa Yachts, as the custom megayacht Spirit was launched amidst traditional ceremonies that are the hallmark of many Italian yacht builders. A priest blessed the yacht, and the owner’s godmother played a crucial part in the christening. Surrounded by the yard’s skilled craftsmen and the owners, this launch signifies not just an engineering feat, but a closer step towards the owners’ vision of a harmonious lifestyle at sea, while also honoring their commitment to reducing environmental impact.

A Unique Design from Vitruvius Yachts Design

The design of the Spirit, initially code-named Project Secret, showcases the fine craftsmanship by Vitruvius Yachts Design, led by Philippe Briand and Veerle Battiau. This team spent over a year crafting a design emphasizing efficiency and a lightweight structure, which is pivotal in reducing fuel consumption. Upon choosing Tankoa Yachts, the shipyard prioritized optimization, taking into account engineering considerations through to construction, ensuring an agile hull and balanced weight distribution.

In addition to traditional design elements, the Spirit integrates a hybrid propulsion system that includes electric motors and performant batteries. This innovative approach reduces fuel consumption even further, embodying modern luxury with environmental responsibility. To meet the owners’ standards for comfort, sound, and vibration levels, Tankoa Yachts partnered with Van Cappellen Consultancy, a specialized integration that brings a wealth of experience to yacht tranquility.

    Emphasizing Wellbeing on the Water

In crafting the Spirit, the owners placed significant emphasis on lifestyle enhancements that promote wellbeing. Natural light floods through full-height windows in every room, creating seamless views of the sapphire waters—a thoughtful design that nurtures a sense of connection to the marine environment. This theme extends to the yacht’s beach club area, where a glass-fronted transom door opens up, offering a space that blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor living.

A Sanctuary for Mind and Body

Collaborating with FM Architettura, the owners transformed the beach area into a serene space focused on mental and physical wellness. The transom door ingeniously splits into two sections, creating a versatile area for relaxation and exercise. With fitness being a priority, the beach club includes a gym and spa that can be utilized even while the yacht is underway. Following a rigorous workout, owners can indulge in a refreshing plunge pool located just beyond the glass doors, which adds to the rejuvenating experience. Swim steps that deploy from the lowered transom further enhance access to invigorating ocean swims, while side platforms expand the relaxation area, encouraging outdoor leisure.

    An Understated Elegance

While images of the interior remain under wraps, it’s been shared that the décor will focus on natural materials, soft textures, and a subdued color palette aimed at promoting calmness and a sense of wellbeing throughout the yacht. This thoughtful design philosophy ensures that every corner of the Spirit embodies tranquility and enhances the onboard experience.

    Performance and Capacity

Upcoming sea trials are projected to confirm a cruising speed of 15 knots and a top speed of 17 knots. The yacht is designed to accommodate a total of 12 guests across six luxurious staterooms, complemented by a highly trained crew of nine.
