    Israel Unveils $2 Million Initiative for Marine Energy Solutions

    Israel’s government is planning to invest NIS 6 million (approximately $2 million) in advancing marine energy solutions, including wave energy generation, offshore energy systems, artificial intelligence-powered marine energy management, and related technologies.

    The joint initiative by Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the Israel Innovation Authority aims to kick-start applied research to promote sustainable development in Israel’s maritime space. This initiative is not only about fostering local expertise but also catalyzing the implementation of innovative energy technologies that align with our energy and climate goals.

    The program’s core mission is to strengthen the nexus between academia, industry, and government.     Among the trailblazers in this field is Eco Wave Power. This pioneering organization currently operates Israel’s first and only grid-connected wave energy power station, located at Jaffa Port. With a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Israel Electric Corporation, Eco Wave Power’s facility contributes clean electricity directly to Israel’s national grid, showcasing the practical application of marine renewable energy.

    Inna Braverman, the Founder and CEO of Eco Wave Power, expressed commendation for the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the Israel Innovation Authority in launching such a vital initiative. She emphasized the significance of their grid-connected wave energy power station at Jaffa Port as a proof of concept for marine renewable energy’s viability in Israel. Braverman also anticipates the emergence of additional Blue-Tech innovations through this pioneering program.
