Belgium-headquartered GEOxyz is bringing its capabilities to South Korea with the establishment of a strategic partnership with local companies for the provision of offshore survey services.

On July 23, GEOxyz announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with local firms SKY Offshore and Cway7 in Incheon. This partnership marks a significant step toward enhancing the offshore survey services available in the South Korean market.
As part of this collaboration, GEOxyz will leverage its extensive global survey experience, focusing on data quality, processing, and reporting aligned with international standards. Meanwhile, SKY Offshore and Cway7 will contribute their comprehensive local knowledge, particularly in conducting geophysical and geotechnical surveys tailored to the unique conditions of Korean waters.
The integration of these two capabilities promises high-quality data generation, with local partners ensuring compliance with pertinent rules, regulations, permitting, and data handling specific to South Korea. GEOxyz emphasized the importance of this collaborative approach, stating, “For clients here, that is the combination that counts. High-quality data, handled securely, delivered by partners who understand both the technology and the local fieldwork conditions and sensitivities. This is where our work in South Korea begins.”
In addition to this partnership, GEOxyz has been active in other sectors. Recently, the company was appointed to conduct unexploded ordnance (UXO) investigation and geotechnical surveys for an ambitious new HVDC subsea electricity interconnector intended to link Northern Ireland and Scotland. This project highlights the range of GEOxyz’s capabilities, which includes a variety of innovative surveying techniques such as cone penetration testing (CPT) and vibrocore sampling.
The specialized vessels Geo Ocean IX and GeoSurveyor VIII are tasked with different components of the Scotland-Northern Ireland project. Geo Ocean IX is responsible for the deeper offshore UXO investigations, relying on towed equipment to gather essential data, while GeoSurveyor VIII focuses on nearshore surveys in shallower waters, ensuring the adaptability of operations based on the site conditions.
