A Vision for Connectivity and Entertainment
The owner of this confidential superyacht, constructed by Delta Marine, sought more than the conventional separate speakers that merely provided ambient sound. The goal was to foster a continuous connection among guests, allowing them to enjoy music and social interactions no matter where they gathered. With accommodations for up to 16 guests, the yacht features diverse entertainment areas, including the sundeck, main deck, and a beach club. To realize this vision, Montana Pro Audio was called upon to create a sophisticated audio system capable of delivering premium sound across all outdoor spaces.
State-of-the-Art Technology
Montana Pro Audio employed equipment from L-Acoustics, a brand renowned for powering some of the world’s most iconic concerts and theater performances. Their systems not only guarantee fidelity of sound but also offer durability against the harsh elements encountered at sea. “The goal was to outfit the vessel with discreet, professional-level products that provide a nightclub-level audio experience throughout the boat,” says Aaron Fisher, director of business development for Montana Pro Audio.
Seamless Integration Across Decks
The initial phase of this ambitious project revolves around the yacht’s three primary exterior decks. By thoughtfully integrating speakers and subwoofers into the sundeck, the owner’s deck, and main deck, the audio solution is designed to be visually unobtrusive yet powerful. Interestingly, one of the innovative installations occurred in the watertoy garage, cleverly concealed beneath the overhead garage door. When the door opens, the speakers activate, creating an ideal soundscape for guests enjoying the beach or engaging in watertoy activities.
Flexibility for Every Gathering
Another distinctive feature of the superyacht audio system is its flexible DJ setup. Various connection points are distributed across the decks and garage, allowing the DJ to adapt quickly to the gathering’s location. Whether it’s an intimate gathering at the beach club or a larger party unfolding over multiple decks, the system ensures seamless audio continuity throughout the yacht. This minimizes the need for a fixed DJ station and allows for a more spontaneous, vibrant atmosphere.
Designed for Marine Environments
The environmental resilience of L-Acoustics components was also a priority. “We were able to meet the project’s timeline because these enclosures are built to handle humidity, salt air, and spray as standard manufacturing design,” Fisher explains. The coordination between the yacht’s engineers and the L-Acoustics team ensured the audio system was effectively integrated without compromising the yacht’s aesthetic. This included meticulous planning for cable routing, speaker mounting, and optimizing design routes for the marine structure.
Future Possibilities
This innovative audio system is just the beginning; plans for phase two of the project have already been set in motion. Next year, the owner intends to enhance the interior with specialized audio equipment in the main saloon, dining room, media room, master suite, gym, and wheelhouse. Additionally, a deployable sound system will be introduced at the bow, further expanding outdoor entertaining possibilities and acoustic experiences.
