Norway’s offshore vessel owner Eidesvik Offshore has strengthened its relationship with Aker BP, a compatriot oil and gas player, through a new deal that enables one of its platform supply vessels (PSVs) to secure a long-term assignment with the Norwegian operator.

Eidesvik Offshore recently entered into a frame agreement with Aker BP for the provision of one of its PSVs, reflecting a significant move in their ongoing partnership. This new contract spans four years and offers options for two additional two-year extensions, enhancing the scope and continuity of their collaborative efforts.
This agreement is particularly notable as it allows Eidesvik Offshore to secure a firm commitment for the PSV Viking Prince, a vessel built in 2012. The arrangement speaks to the ongoing strategic collaboration between the two companies, which originated in 2019 and has flourished due to consistent performance and safety standards.
Helga Cotgrove, CEO of Eidesvik, articulated the company’s enthusiasm about this partnership, stating: “We are very pleased to continue our close collaboration with Aker BP. The new frame agreement builds on several years of consistent, safe and high-quality performance from both crew and vessels.” This sentiment highlights the trust built between the two firms, emphasizing the importance of reliability in offshore operations.
The upcoming assignment for the PSV Viking Prince is designed to commence directly after the vessel’s current contract concludes, ensuring a seamless transition. This approach reflects Eidesvik’s focus on operational continuity, which is critical in the competitive offshore sector.
Notably, the PSV Viking Prince was upgraded in January 2022 with a battery hybrid system and a shore power system, showcasing Eidesvik’s commitment to sustainability and technological advancement. These enhancements not only improve operational efficiency but also align with the industry’s growing emphasis on reducing environmental impact.
This new deal with Aker BP follows a recent extension agreement for another Eidesvik vessel that is currently engaged with Equinor on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). Such developments signify a robust movement within Eidesvik’s operational plans, underlining its secure footing in the offshore energy market.
