Recently, DOF Group has announced the declaration of a one-year contract extension for the MPSV Skandi Darwin. This extension will allow the vessel to continue its operations with a currently undisclosed client in Australia, extending its service period until the third quarter of 2027. This is a significant move that underscores DOF’s strong presence and commitment in the Australian maritime and energy sector.

While DOF has not disclosed the specific financial details surrounding this contract extension, the agreement solidifies the MPSV Skandi Darwin’s role in important support functions in the region. Built in 2012, this multipurpose support vessel previously secured a contract to assist with Shell’s Prelude Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facility back in July 2016. This arrangement highlights a robust history of collaboration with industry leaders in offshore energy.

The Prelude FLNG facility, situated approximately 475 kilometers north-northeast of Broome in Western Australia, represents one of Shell’s most innovative projects in the energy sector. The initial five-year deal commenced in November 2017 and came along with two subsequent two-year extension options, showcasing the trust and reliability placed in DOF’s operational capabilities.

The recent contract extension arrives on the heels of another notable assignment for DOF in North America, where the company is set to provide a range of services, including project management, engineering, and intervention vessel operations, for Shell’s initiative to deliver chemical fluid into subsea wells. This emphasizes DOF’s versatile operational model and its ability to adapt and cater to diverse client needs across global markets.

The Skandi Darwin, with its advanced capabilities, continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiencies in offshore energy projects. As the demand for reliable and innovative marine support services grows, DOF’s strategic focus on extending contracts with esteemed clients illustrates its proactive approach in a competitive maritime environment.
