Oslo-listed international consultancy group ABL Group is rebranding and will be renamed Aqualis.
The name Aqualis is a nod to the company’s beginnings, originating from Aqualis Offshore, which was established in 2012 and made its debut on the Oslo Stock Exchange two years later. This evolution has allowed the company to carve a niche in the consultancy market, predominantly focusing on energy and marine sectors.
Aqualis is not just a single brand; it is a collective of four distinct operating brands. These include ABL, which focuses on energy and marine consultancy, AGR, dedicated to energy and software consultancy, OWC, a leader in renewable energy consultancy, and Longitude, which specializes in design and engineering consultancy. This diverse portfolio ensures that Aqualis meets a wide range of client needs, making it a versatile player in the consultancy arena.
The rebranding effort stems from the need to eliminate confusion caused by the current dual usage of the ABL name. As both the name of the listed group entity and that of its marine consultancy, it has been a source of misunderstanding among clients and stakeholders. The transition to Aqualis aims to bring clarity and distinction, providing a unique identity for each of the group’s brands while allowing them to operate with greater autonomy.

In line with its strategic goals, last month, ABL Group announced an expansion of its technical offerings in the energy sector by incorporating SynergenOG, a consultancy based in Malaysia specializing in process safety and technical risk management. This acquisition represents a significant step in Aqualis’ goal to broaden its services and meet the evolving demands of the energy industries around the globe.
