Norway’s DOF Group is set to commence a subsea construction and pre-commissioning support services contract in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region in the fourth quarter of 2026.

On July 7, 2026, DOF Group announced its latest achievement: a substantial contract valued between $50 million and $100 million for subsea construction and pre-commissioning support services in North Australian waters. This significant project underscores DOF’s growing footprint in the APAC region, where demand for advanced subsea technology and support is steadily increasing.
The contract will leverage DOF’s robust operational capabilities, involving comprehensive project management, engineering, procurement, and logistics services. This holistic approach ensures seamless integration and delivery of subsea solutions, which are pivotal in the evolving energy landscape.
Central to these operations will be the Skandi Inventor, a state-of-the-art vessel designed for such demanding tasks. Scheduled to operate starting in Q4 2026, the deployment of Skandi Inventor is projected to last between 160 and 250 days. This impressive timeframe highlights the scale and complexity of the upcoming projects.
The Skandi Inventor, a Marin Teknikk 6027 design, was built in 2018 and measures 137.6 meters in length, with the capacity to accommodate 120 crew members. This vessel is not just a ship; it’s a floating hub of innovation equipped with cutting-edge technology, poised to deliver world-class service in challenging underwater environments.
Mons Aase, the CEO of DOF Group, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the project, stating, “I am very pleased to see that Skandi Inventor, combined with DOF’s competence, continues to be in high demand following the vessel’s arrival in the APAC region in early 2026. The vessel now has firm backlog in the region towards the end of 2027, and we look forward to continuing to deliver safe, efficient and world-class subsea and marine services.” His remarks emphasize the confidence that DOF has in their capabilities and the vessel’s pivotal role in their strategy.
Previously, in August 2025, DOF signaled a long-term commitment in the APAC region for Skandi Inventor, beginning operations in January 2026, which are initially set for one year with room for future extensions. The sustained demand for the vessel is further reiterated by a contract won in May, worth between $25 million and $50 million, for its deployment in North Australian waters in the second quarter of 2027.
