Solar power and hydrogeneration are just part of the story behind the Sunreef 100 Eco yacht. The launch of hull number one marks what Sunreef Yachts believes is the future of sailing superyachts.
Independence from diesel fuel for arriving in and departing from marinas, repositioning, and similar needs has been a priority for Sunreef Yachts since its inception. Expanding Sunreef’s sustainable supercat series, the Sunreef 100 Eco yacht boasts twin 360-kW electric engines alongside a formidable 770-kW battery bank onboard. Additionally, the latest generation of its in-house-developed solar power system, with panels strategically embedded in the bimini, superstructure, and hull, is a remarkable highlight of this vessel.

The solar panels—which Sunreef refers to as a solar “skin”—deserve a closer look. A total of 2,610 square feet (242.5 square meters) of panels are seamlessly integrated into the yacht’s design. Nicholas Lapp, the shipyard’s director of research and development, explains that these panels are less than 1 millimeter thick and weigh under 2 kilos per square meter (about 4.4 pounds per 11 square feet). Despite their lightweight nature, they remain strong and flexible, easily conforming to various areas of the yacht.
This cutting-edge technology was an easy sell for the owner, who is a returning customer. The semi-custom configuration further enhances its appeal. While specific details about the layout and décor are sparse, the design generally accommodates up to 10 guests. Options include a main-deck master suite with guest staterooms distributed between the twin hulls. Alternatively, if clients prefer all staterooms below decks, the main deck’s interior transforms into a vast open-plan relaxation and dining space.
On the exterior, the Sunreef 100 Eco yacht boasts an “Ocean Lounge”—a spacious beach area that spans the hulls just above the waterline. This versatile space is perfect for lounging, swimming, or boarding water toys, which can be conveniently stowed in dedicated areas at the aft of each hull. Additionally, the owner of hull number one has incorporated a dive locker and a customary tender garage, enhancing the yacht’s functionality and luxury.
“With the Sunreef 100 Eco, we are proving that the future of superyachting can be both luxurious and responsible,” says Francis Lapp, founder and president of Sunreef Yachts.

Hull number one is set to make its debut at the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show, where it will undoubtedly catch the attention of yachting enthusiasts and industry insiders alike.
