This 230,000 sq. ft. estate will take your breath away.

Settled on 30 acres within lush emerald foliage in an undisclosed location in Asia lies a 250,000-square-foot, multi-generational French château-inspired estate equipped with every imaginable amenity. The property’s exquisite detail and sheer luxury are nothing short of breathtaking.

The unique French château-inspired architecture nestled in the natural Asian terrain is just one aspect that makes this compound so special. Initially, the land was barren and empty. To achieve the privacy and seclusion desired by the family, who has a genuine passion for trees, Robert Truskowski, a renowned landscape architect and founder of Robert E. Truskowski Inc, masterfully crafted the landscape plans for the estate.

This architectural masterpiece is the work of the esteemed Landry Design Group (LDG), renowned for its luxurious residential designs. Interior designers Geoffrey Bradfield and Roric Tobin incorporated multi-generational aesthetics into the design, ensuring every room narrates a unique story reflective of its inhabitant.

“The client sought a home that would endure the test of time, suitable for multiple generations,” Richard Landry, president and founder of LDG, states. “They wanted to create a legacy for their family.”

Upon entering the estate through a stunning French limestone gatehouse, visitors are welcomed by a cobblestone driveway flanked by trees and shrubs. This scenic approach leads to a beautiful entry court, where a fountain is encircled by delicately designed floral landscaping. “We aimed to layer the arrival experience,” Landry explains.

The main residence consists of a tripartite structure, where the primary residential building is flanked by two additional houses. Each side features symmetrical rectangular pools along with beautifully landscaped gardens designed in swirling patterns.

“All three homes in the tripartite layout are interconnected via ground-level galleries and a shared basement housing amenities like a movie theater, casino, ballroom, bowling alley, and staff quarters,” Landry notes. “This space allows families to bond over leisure activities.”

The owner’s love for 18th-century French architecture is evident throughout the estate. With authentic French limestone as its primary material, the home boasts hand-carved embellishments and elaborate linework characteristic of the era.

“The clients brought in a stone carver from France, who set up shop on-site to hand-carve the stone, demonstrating traditional craftsmanship akin to that of the 18th century,” Landry reflects. “It’s astonishing; it was done as authentically as it would have been in the past.”

While Landry aimed to emulate the allure of a French château, he prides himself on his innovative approach to 18th-century-inspired architecture. “I draw inspiration from historical precedents but never seek to replicate a specific château. Our designs are tailored to cater to modern lifestyles,” he asserts.

“This project exemplifies that although modern architecture has gained traction, there’s still a place for classically designed homes inspired by the grandeur of historical estates in Europe,” LDG partner Mark Savary adds.

The architectural mastery and landscaping of the main property are awe-inspiring, but the estate’s features extend far beyond the principal residence. The Asia Palace estate encompasses a myriad of unique elements, including a sports pavilion with an indoor pool, elegant formal gardens, secret gardens, vegetable gardens, a four-acre man-made lake complete with pagodas and boats, jogging trails around the property, a casino, library, secluded Chinese-inspired tea house, art studio, formal theater, karaoke lounge, bowling alley, traditional ballroom, resort-style spa, tennis courts, and guest quarters for staff and friends.

“What’s remarkable about this estate is its balance of the formal and informal,” Landry explains. “Not everything is taken too seriously, with architectural follies, playgrounds for children, and recreational areas like tennis courts.”

Bradfield and Tobin, seasoned collaborators of Landry, expertly fulfilled the homeowner’s vision, integrating functionality with beauty.

The interiors resonate with each family member’s style while showcasing individualized art and furniture. The compound tells a rich narrative woven from the tapestry of generations, featuring various color schemes and furnishings reflecting personal tastes.

Despite the cohesion in design throughout the estate, each of the three residences has its distinct character,” Roric Tobin, principal designer of Roric Tobin Designs, elaborates. “The parents’ home leans traditional, while the design transitions into a more contemporary aesthetic in the children’s residences. Diverse color schemes and art collections reflect varying homeowner preferences, creating a seamless yet distinct flow.”

The primary residential building embodies a classic and refined aesthetic, showcasing mahogany and iron doors embellished with gold floral motifs, alongside classically inspired furniture and artworks by masters like Fernando Botero.

The library within the central residence is a tribute to classical French design. The flowing forms of the millwork soften the rectangular space, while the white oak chevron flooring complements the library’s chocolate and cream color palette, fostering a serene reading ambiance.

Central to the main household is the oval drawing room, flooded with natural light from sprawling 36-foot-tall windows that frame stunning views of the pools and gardens. The space radiates an open yet elevated ambiance, characterized by Gallic-style jade and mauve furnishings and a circle sectional adorned with a luxurious fringed design, all under a grand crystal chandelier. A plush silk and wool rug with intricate designs anchors the room, creating an opulent gathering place for familial connections.

The other two residential units embrace a more modern design, filled with vibrant colors, contemporary furniture, and avant-garde artwork.

“One of our key challenges was the necessity to create a multitude of unique rooms while maintaining a cohesive design aesthetic across a considerable scale and dimension,” Tobin shares. “Striking the right balance in furnishing was crucial; too much could feel like a showroom, while too little could leave a space barren. The intent was to ensure the highest quality in both architectural details and personalized interiors.”

After five years, the extensive project reached fruition. Curating such an elaborate estate demanded collaborative efforts, extensive communication, and visionary imagination—a true accomplishment for all involved.

“It truly takes a village. This project required a team of dedicated and talented individuals who collectively brought a dream estate to life,” LDG principal Brian Pinkett emphasizes.

“The client has other homes worldwide, but this estate was intentionally crafted to bring the family together,” Landry adds. “It means a lot to work with clients who empower us to create something on this scale, with exceptional detail and quality throughout the design process.”
