The impressive Fulmar Explorer, a vessel dating back to 2009, joined SeaBird’s fleet in 2019. It has now bagged a significant contract focused on ocean bottom node (OBN) source work, marking a pivotal step in expanding the company’s operational footprint. The contract’s total duration, inclusive of mobilization and demobilization, is set for approximately three months.

Before heading to West Africa, the Fulmar Explorer will undergo a thorough five-year classification process, anticipated to wrap up in August. This rigorous maintenance ensures that the vessel meets all regulatory and safety standards, enhancing its efficiency for the upcoming project.

“We are pleased to secure additional work for Fulmar Explorer, further strengthening our backlog. The contract reflects continued demand for our OBN source capabilities and our ability to deliver reliable and efficient operations,” expressed Finn Atle Hamre, CEO of SeaBird. His enthusiasm highlights the company’s commitment to maintaining high standards and meeting client expectations.

SeaBird is keen on executing this project safely, ensuring client satisfaction while capitalizing on the increasing demand for its services in the West African region. Hamre noted that winning this contract positions Fulmar Explorer favorably for further opportunities, suggesting a promising outlook for SeaBird’s operations in the near future.

In a significant update, the Fulmar Explorer extended its contract in February 2026 for OBN source work in the Western Hemisphere, securing an additional three months until mid-June. This extension underscores the vessel’s effectiveness and the ongoing need for its services in that region, indicating a robust market demand.
