Manufactured by Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), this vessel was officially handed over during a remote online signing ceremony with South Korea’s Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC). Notably, this is only the fourth 10,000-vehicle-class car carrier constructed in China, but it stands out as a pioneer with its innovative solar capabilities.

    Solar Power Integration

    A hallmark feature of this vessel is its integrated photovoltaic power generation system. This ship can generate around 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity daily when exposed to sunlight for 5.5 to 7 hours. This electricity supports the ship’s onboard operations, decreasing reliance on conventional fuel and enhancing overall energy efficiency. This innovation aligns with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Tier III emission standards, marking a significant stride towards sustainable maritime operations.

    Design and Specifications

    The architectural design of this ship is the result of a collaborative effort between GSI and the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute. The vessel is under classification by Norway’s Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and South Korea’s Korean Register (KR), allowing it to navigate global waters without restriction.

    In terms of size, the carrier spans 230 meters (755 feet) in length and 40 meters (131 feet) in width, with a draft of 10.5 meters (34.4 feet). It can cruise at speeds of up to 19 knots, providing considerable speed and capacity. Its LNG storage tanks are designed to hold enough fuel for entire voyages, eliminating the need for mid-route refueling.

    Equipped with a remarkable capacity, this vessel features 14 vehicle decks with a mix of nine fixed decks and five adjustable decks, allowing for the transport of various vehicles.
