Mengi Yay Yachts Unveils the Amphib II: A New Era for Adventurous Cruising
This week, the esteemed Mengi Yay Yachts made waves in the maritime world by launching the newest addition to its fleet: the superyacht Amphib II. Designed with explorers in mind, this remarkable vessel promises to take owners and guests to both sun-soaked beaches and cooler, more challenging environments.
An Overview of the Amphib II
Stretching an impressive 173 feet (nearly 53 meters), the Amphib II has been shrouded in confidentiality during its development process over the past few years. It is the second yacht to emerge from Mengi Yay’s Virtus XP series, following the recently launched Gray Wolf. This series specifically caters to families and individuals who have ambitions to cross vast oceans and explore new horizons—whether heading north or south.
One of the standout features of the Amphib II is its Ice Class 1C notation. This classification signifies that the yacht can operate in light ice conditions, making it an ideal choice for adventurous cruisers looking to navigate more extreme waterways. Additionally, the yacht meets the rigorous environmental standards set by the RINA classification society, thanks to its Green Plus certification.
A Blend of Form and Function
The Amphib II isn’t just about ruggedness; it’s also a showcase of contemporary design. As a Virtus XP project, it combines traditional yachting aesthetics with modern functionality. The result is a yacht that embodies the classic looks of Mediterranean and Caribbean cruisers while being equipped to handle challenging sea conditions.
To achieve this balanced design, Mengi Yay has collaborated once again with renowned Van Oossanen Naval Architects and VYD Studio. The hull is engineered for a maximum speed of 15 knots, with a cruising speed of 12 knots. With a fuel capacity of 17,171 gallons (or 65,000 liters), the Amphib II can easily cover a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, mirroring its predecessor, Gray Wolf.
Tailored Interiors
While specific details about the interiors remain under wraps, we know that VYD Studio collaborated closely with the owners to create a luxurious environment. The yacht can comfortably accommodate 10 guests across five staterooms, ensuring that all members of the party experience a high degree of comfort and sophistication.
The delivery of Amphib II is anticipated later this summer, paving the way for unique adventures on the high seas.
