The new hub, strategically situated at the Port of Oskarshamn, marks WIND Group’s commitment to enhancing its service offerings across the Baltic region. With a long-term agreement with Smålandshamnar, this dedicated yard is poised to support various operations, including cable transportation, storage, and offshore services tailored to meet the evolving demands of the industry.

What sets the Port of Oskarshamn apart is its unique infrastructure, which includes a 435-meter quay and a minimum water depth of 10.3 meters. These features make it an ideal location for accommodating a wide range of vessels and facilitating efficient ship-to-ship cable transfers. This capability is crucial for ensuring timely and effective project execution, especially in a region where maritime logistics play a vital role.

“The establishment of our new hub in Oskarshamn marks an important step in the expansion of WIND’s activities in the Baltic region,” remarked Tom Nooij, the CEO of WIND. His statement reflects not only a milestone for the company but also a broader vision for growth in a key maritime area. The hub is designed to streamline interactions with clients, ensuring they receive comprehensive logistical solutions and services.

At the heart of WIND’s operational philosophy is an integrated approach. By combining capabilities across its various divisions, WIND can offer clients a diverse range of services. This includes carousel rental, logistics and marshalling, as well as equipment supply and maintenance. Additionally, vessel mobilisation services are provided through affiliated company Draftec, further enhancing the seamless support offered to offshore projects.

This integrated service model aims to simplify the complexities often associated with subsea cable projects. Clients can approach WIND for a holistic suite of services, reducing the need to coordinate with multiple suppliers and enabling more efficient project execution. Such a streamlined approach not only saves time but also minimizes potential risks and challenges associated with disparate service providers.

As WIND establishes its footprint in Sweden, it also aims to tap into the growing renewable energy sector in the Baltic region. This area has seen a surge in offshore wind farm developments, which rely heavily on robust subsea cable infrastructure for effective energy transmission. WIND’s new hub is positioned to play a crucial role in supporting these projects, delivering vital services that ensure operational reliability and efficiency.

Moreover, the establishment of the Oskarshamn hub highlights WIND’s dedication to sustainability in subsea operations. By being located closer to its clients in the Baltic region, the company aims to reduce transportation emissions associated with logistics. This commitment to environmental responsibility aligns with the industry’s push toward greener practices and enhances WIND’s reputation as a forward-thinking company in the offshore sector.
