Recently, Texas LNG awarded a conditional authorization to the Kiewit Energy Group, a highly regarded construction and engineering services provider. This partnership is crucial for the development phase of the LNG export terminal, emphasizing the project’s potential to enhance Texas’s role as a leader in the energy sector.

As part of the arrangement, Glenfarne’s subsidiary provided Kiewit with a limited notice to proceed (LNTP). This notification grants Kiewit the green light to begin preliminary work without waiting for the complete package of a formal contract. The LNTP is designed to cover essential tasks, such as long-lead equipment purchases and geotechnical assessments, ensuring that the project is on track for a successful full-scale launch.

The focus on these early activities underscores the strategic measures being employed to prepare the LNG project for construction. Specifically, it addresses engineering activities necessary for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phase. By pushing ahead with the LNTP, Texas LNG is making strides toward securing the essential equipment and expertise needed for the project.

Brendan Duval, the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Glenfarne, commented on the progress, stating, “The LNTP work and purchase orders demonstrate the strength of the project’s world-class partner network and Glenfarne’s continued disciplined advancement of Texas LNG.” His perspective reveals a commitment to maintaining momentum and enhancing execution certainty for the project, which is integral for its eventual success in the market.

Texas LNG has achieved significant project milestones, including executing a lump-sum turnkey EPC agreement with Kiewit, and receiving approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to move forward with both construction and operation. These achievements form the cornerstone of Texas LNG’s strategy to deliver reliable and lower-emission U.S. LNG to global markets.

Glenfarne’s plans include an expansive North American LNG portfolio that totals an impressive 32.8 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). This portfolio is not confined to Texas alone but extends to developments in Alaska and Louisiana, positioning Glenfarne as a formidable force in the regional and global LNG landscape.
