Revitalizing Heights: The Transformation of Dining Venues at The Edge, Hudson Yards

Design enthusiasts and culinary aficionados alike are buzzing with excitement over the recent overhaul of dining venues at The Edge, the iconic triangular observation deck perched high above New York City’s Hudson Yards. Spearheaded by design studio iCrave in collaboration with Tao Hospitality Group, this transformation breathes new life into two sought-after dining experiences: Peak with Priceless and the newly introduced Avenue Sky Lounge.

Peak with Priceless: A Culinary Journey Across the Skyline

Situated on the 101st floor of the stunning 30 Hudson Yards, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), Peak with Priceless presents a flawless fusion of gastronomy and breathtaking views. The venue’s redesign ensures that every guest experiences unobstructed views of Manhattan’s skyline. This thoughtful layout includes stepped booths and smaller window-side tables, making the most of the stunning backdrop.

The interiors echo a soft, warm aesthetic, featuring rich blue and brown suede upholstery reminiscent of the city’s dynamic energy. The design subtly hints at Art Deco influences, drawing on New York’s architectural legacy. David Taglione, managing director of Journey, encapsulates the essence of the venue by stating, “The inspiration behind Peak and Avenue was always New York itself, its energy, glamour and unmistakable sense of occasion.”

Avenue Sky Lounge: Reviving a Beloved Nightlife Icon

As part of this revitalization, Avenue Sky Lounge emerges as a fresh face in the culinary scene, taking the torch from the cherished Avenue nightclub that closed its doors in 2020 due to the pandemic. Aiming to capture the vibrant spirit that once characterized the nightclub, the lounge features intimate spaces that can be divided using coffee-hued curtains, adding a touch of refined elegance while maintaining connectivity to its surroundings.

The decor mirrors that of Peak with Priceless, continuing the color palette and design elements that pay homage to the art deco movement. The lounge’s bar glimmers with lacquered wood paneling and geometric stone countertops, evoking a sense of timeless sophistication.

Thoughtful Design Decisions: Focusing on Guest Experience

Both venues reflect a meticulous attention to detail, where every design choice supports a seamless experience for guests. The tiered lighting fixtures reference iconic skylines, creating an atmosphere that is both welcoming and chic. Taglione notes, “Every design decision, from the rich materiality to the layered seating and subtle Art Deco references, was shaped to frame the view while creating a space with its own distinct sense of presence.”

A Skyline Inspired: Architectural and Aesthetic Connections

The redesign of Peak and Avenue not only aims to engage the senses through culinary delights but also invites guests to immerse themselves in the vibrancy of New York City. The venues serve as a canvas for the skyline, with expansive wraparound windows that allow for panoramic views, drawing inspiration from the artistic architecture that defines the city.

Future Events and Experiences at The Edge

As part of this revitalization, The Edge will reintroduce the Marquee Skydeck—an events series featuring DJ sets and performances soaring above the city. Positioned at the dizzying height of 1,100 feet, making it the highest observation deck in the Western Hemisphere, this initiative aims to cultivate a buzzing atmosphere, attracting both local New Yorkers and international visitors.

    Recognizing Iconic Influences

Throughout both venues, one can spot nods to the architectural marvels of New York City. From the tiered booth designs at Peak that face the breathtaking views, to the upscale finishes at Avenue Sky Lounge, the architectural language echoes the grandeur of iconic structures such as the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center.

    A Taste of Timelessness

In the vision set forth by Susan Nugraha, SVP of design and development at Tao Group, the redesign encapsulates a “timeless yet of-the-moment” approach to hospitality. By embracing the rich history of New York City while catering to contemporary tastes and experiences, both Peak and Avenue Sky Lounge stand poised to become quintessential destinations for dining and entertainment in the heart of Hudson Yards.
