Jasmine Energy (JEL), a subsidiary of Singapore’s Rex International, has recently revised the timeline for a multi-well drilling program off the coast of Oman. This operation will utilize a nine-year-old jack-up rig provided by Texas-based Northern Offshore, renowned for its expertise in building and operating jack-up rigs.
The announcement also comes with exciting updates from Rex International’s indirect subsidiary, Masirah Oil Limited (MOL). MOL will soon disclose an updated schedule for its drilling program consisting of three development wells located within the Yumna field in Block 50 offshore Oman. This signifies an important step in enhancing oil production capabilities in the region.
In January 2026, Jasmine Energy entered into a multi-well drilling contract for the 2017-built Energy Emerger jack-up rig, which is currently under the operation of Northern Offshore Drilling Operations. This partnership is designed to strengthen operational capacity and optimize the efficiency of the drilling campaigns.
The Energy Emerger rig has a robust track record, being utilized in previous oil and gas campaigns, including the current year’s drilling operations. The Block 50 area encompasses approximately 17,000 square kilometers, stretching across the Gulf of Masirah, situated to the east of Oman—a region rich in untapped energy resources.
Notably, the Yumna field celebrated a significant milestone, achieving first oil production in February 2020. The field development plan approval and declaration of commerciality (DOC) for Yumna was granted in July 2020, underscoring its potential as a vital contributor to the region’s oil production landscape.
MOL, which operates as an indirect 87.5% subsidiary of Jasmine Energy, holds a commanding 100% interest in Block 50, enhancing its strategic position in the evolving oil market of Oman. As the operator, MOL is set to steer the upcoming drilling operations, promising to unleash further potential from this promising offshore site.
