Explore the Uncharted Waters: The National Geographic Resolution
Through its publications, television channels, and branded tours, National Geographic has long connected adventure-seekers with the hidden treasures of all seven continents. This spirit of exploration now takes a new turn with the introduction of cruises on the National Geographic Resolution, a polar ship that combines state-of-the-art technology with luxurious comforts.
Following the July 2021 launch of the Endurance, the first new polar vessel in Lindblad’s history, this legendary collaboration is now unveiling its sister ship, the Resolution. Like the Endurance, the Resolution was purpose-built for comfortable polar exploration and is designed to facilitate adventures where few have ventured before. Set to sail on its inaugural itinerary this November, travelers can look forward to breathtaking escapes into the icy expanses of the polar regions.

The Resolution, named in honor of Captain James Cook’s second voyage, boasts a Polar Class 5 rating— the highest classification in ice-strengthened ships. It features a patented X-Bow design, enhancing passenger comfort by enabling smoother and quieter sailings with less bow impact. With the capacity to accommodate up to 126 guests across 69 cabins, each space comes with substantial exterior windows or balconies, private bathrooms, WiFi, and a command center equipped with tablets and device docks.
Spread across five beautiful decks, the Resolution offers everything you need to travel to the earth’s farthest corners in luxury. Amenities include a lounge with a bar, a gym, a yoga studio, an outdoor infinity-edge pool and hot tub, and even a sauna with outdoor views. For those looking to stimulate the mind, the ship features a library, state-of-the-art screening facilities, and a dedicated photo workshop designed to inspire and capture every moment of the journey.
Two distinct restaurants will provide menus rich in regionally-sourced ingredients, while a special chef’s table offers an intimate group dining experience. Travelers can revel in additional services that include a full-time doctor, a wellness specialist, laundry services, and an internet café to keep you connected.
But what truly sets this journey apart is the onboard presence of a National Geographic photographer and a Lindblad-National Geographic photo instructor. Their expertise ensures that every moment is immortalized, allowing you to soak in the experience while they handle the documentation. To enhance the adventures on land, the Resolution is equipped with motorized landing craft, snowshoes, kayaks, skis, and undersea exploration equipment.

Set to embark on November 17, the Resolution will kick off its first 24-day expedition through Antarctica, South Georgia, and the Falklands. Travelers can choose between single and double occupancy suites starting at $28,750 per person. For those seeking a shorter journey, a separate 14-day Journey to Antarctica itinerary will become available in December and January, with rates beginning at $16,450 per person.
Advance bookings for 2022 expeditions aboard the Resolution are already open. Future itineraries will wind through breathtaking destinations such as Alaska, Japan, and Scotland, offering travels that can extend up to 29 days.
