The Gulf-Qatari Classic Car Association has proudly launched the sixth edition of the Qatar Luxury Classic Cars Contest & Exhibition 2025, showcasing some of the world’s rarest vintage vehicles. The event kicked off at The Pearl Island, offering an exciting platform for auto enthusiasts and cultural aficionados alike.

    Honorable Patronage and Inauguration

Held under the honorary patronage of HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums (QM), the exhibition was inaugurated by distinguished Qatari businessman and philanthropist HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani. As the chairman of Al Faisal Holding and the founder of the Al Faisal Global Foundation for Culture and Knowledge, Sheikh Faisal emphasized the importance of the event, stating that it not only showcases beautiful vehicles but also tells rich stories of engineering history.

Joining him at the inauguration were other esteemed figures, including Ahmed al-Hammadi, director general of the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority, and Chairman of United Development Company (UDC).

The Venue and Duration of the Exhibition

Running until November 23 at Medina Centrale, the exhibition is under the direct supervision of the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA). This year’s event has expanded its display to include an array of classic vehicles from Qatar and various GCC countries, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the region.

    A Milestone for National Heritage

At the inauguration, Sheikh Faisal lauded the exhibition as a significant milestone, noting record-breaking participation for the second consecutive year. His remarks highlighted Qatar’s commitment to safeguarding its engineering legacy. “We are proud of the distinguished status this event has achieved regionally and globally,” he stated. “It serves as a platform that brings together enthusiasts, supporting institutions, and audiences passionate about industrial and engineering heritage.”

    Competition Categories and Prizes

The organizers have designed a competitive element to the exhibition, selecting top cars across five categories that span vehicles from pre-1947 to 1995. Three winners will be awarded in each category, with additional recognitions for authenticity, heritage preservation, and overall excellence. Notably, for the first time, winners will receive both financial and in-kind prizes, elevating the stakes for participants.

    GCC Participation and Insights

Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser bin Khalid al-Thani, a Board Member of the association, noted that every edition aims to offer greater value by featuring the finest classic cars on display. Engineer Abdullatif Ali al-Yafei, the secretary-general and Board Member, added that this year’s event has drawn significant representation from GCC countries, accounting for 40% of all participating vehicles.

The Qatar Auto Museum Joins the Celebration

This year marks the debut of the Qatar Auto Museum at the exhibition, a notable inclusion that underscores the institution’s commitment to showcasing cultural history through automotive design. A highlight of the museum’s display is the 1886 Benz Patent-Motorwagen, a vital link to the origins of the modern automotive era.

Luxury Experience at The Pearl Island

Yasser al-Jaidah, CEO of UDC, remarked that hosting the event at The Pearl Island enhances its prestige and aligns with the island’s array of luxurious cultural experiences. The exhibition offers visitors a unique chance to view some of the world’s rarest classic vehicles within a setting that beautifully merges heritage with elegance.

Supporting Qatar’s Passion for Classic Cars

Hussain Omar Alfardan, CMO of Alfardan Automotive, expressed enthusiasm about sponsoring the event, aligning it with the group’s strategy to nurture Qatar’s growing passion for classic cars. This interest is not merely about vehicles; it reflects a broader appreciation of artistic and historical values.

    Commitment to National Heritage

The sponsorship from Daam further illustrates a commitment to preserving national heritage and cultivating cultural awareness. By supporting initiatives like this exhibition, Daam aims to deepen community engagement and foster intergenerational connections that honor Qatar’s rich legacy.

This enriching event not only underscores Qatar’s growing appreciation for automotive history but also represents a celebration of the nation’s industrial and cultural legacy, bringing together enthusiasts, families, and curious visitors in a vibrant atmosphere.
