01 Project Background
L House represents a bold departure from typical villa designs, pushing the boundaries of contemporary urban living. AD ARCHITECTURE has embarked on a mission to redefine the intersection of architecture and interior design, exploring what luxury means in today’s cityscape. Located in a tranquil, upscale neighborhood on an island at the river’s mouth, this villa’s L-shaped layout maximizes river views, making life here akin to residing on a scenic viewing platform.
The villa stands as a silent testament to simplicity and elegance, bathed in a palette of pure white. This design choice allows external elements—like wind, water, and sunlight—to become integral components of the home’s beauty. The architecture emphasizes that the dwellers are the true protagonists; the space is a living entity that adapts to personalities rather than a static backdrop.

02 Natural Flow Outside
Challenging the notion that the basement must be dark and closed off, AD ARCHITECTURE ingeniously integrates a swimming pool with an atrium above it, flooding the space with natural light. This innovative design not only brings sunshine and air into the basement but also creates a sense of fluidity. The combination of flowing water, light, and fresh air fosters an open, inviting atmosphere, enhancing the overall living experience.
03 Generation of Function
The architectural narrative flows seamlessly through strategically placed staircases that facilitate movement between the spaces. These stairs act as conduits, guiding occupants from the vibrant center of the living room on the ground floor to more private areas on the upper levels. The thoughtful layout encourages interaction while also offering moments of retreat, striking a balance between communal spaces and solitude.

04 Restraint and Retreat
L House embodies a gentle demeanor, offering inhabitants a sanctuary filled with tranquility and elegance. This space is meticulously designed to feel harmonious and modest, allowing the architectural elements to recede into the background. The restraint in design serves to empower the occupants, fostering a sense of completion that resonates with serenity and enjoyment.
