Monaco Yacht Show 2025: The Pinnacle of Luxury and Innovation
Words by Muriel Barberi
The greatest show on Earth isn’t a circus; it’s the Monaco Yacht Show – the world’s most prestigious gathering of luxury, yachting, and innovation. In its 34th edition, the 2025 MYS once again transformed Port Hercule into a dazzling stage where craftsmanship, technology, and sustainability met in perfect harmony. This year showcased gleaming superyachts, futuristic toys, and visionary shipyards, all proving why the MYS remains the benchmark for the global yachting industry.
A Theme of Sustainability: Blue Wake
This year, the event’s unifying theme, Blue Wake, served as a clarion call for more sustainable oceans and positioned Monaco as a leader in advancing yachting toward a cleaner, smarter, and more responsible future. The show was organized into several areas, all arranged around Port Hercule, where approximately 100 superyachts proudly moored, presented by shipyards and brokerage houses.
MYS continues to serve as a leading indicator of future trends in the industry, offering insights into the latest technologies set for adoption, as well as innovations that have already made their debut.
Innovations and Technologies
The sustainability conferences held this year were eye-opening, bringing together leading experts from across the industry for an in-depth look at how shipyards are modernizing refit and new-build projects to be more environmentally responsible. With waiting periods for new builds stretching two to three years, many owners are now opting for refits, allowing for the integration of greener technologies and a chance to lessen their environmental impact.
The discussions highlighted the complexity of sustainability in yachting. While destinations like Italy begin restricting access to non-electric boats, panelists agreed that stronger regulations are likely to accelerate the industry’s transition. Conversely, the financial burden of converting existing yachts into sustainable models remains a significant challenge.
Another informative session focused on how superyacht destinations can adopt sustainable practices. The yachting community has long understood its responsibility toward ocean preservation, with owners, crews, and charter companies often being the first to recognize the adverse effects of pollution. New marinas are increasingly designating anchoring zones to protect sensitive ecosystems, like Posidonia meadows, while initiatives in places like the Bahamas implement strict laws to safeguard marine life. Education and awareness, especially among younger generations, are also considered key drivers for long-term change in this sector.
The Blue Wake Initiative
Reinforcing its commitment to ocean health, the Monaco Yacht Show introduced the Blue Wake initiative, a dedicated sustainability program aimed at unifying the show’s environmental vision. This program aspires to inspire the entire superyacht community—builders, suppliers, and owners—to adopt measurable actions toward sustainability. The initiative emphasizes that luxury and responsibility can, and must, coexist.
Adventure Land: A Playground for the Elite
Adventure Land, as its name suggests, presented a wide array of vehicles designed for fun—water toys, luxury cars, helicopters, and anything else that can be enjoyed aboard a superyacht. With inflatable pools, air furniture, and luxury automobiles, this area was a paradise of toys for yachting enthusiasts.
Mansory Customization
The joy of owning a luxury car often extends to customizations, and Mansory specializes in this art. From Lamborghinis to Ferraris, Mansory customizes limited-edition vehicles to cater to individual tastes, transforming them into unique masterpieces.
The Sea Bob: Luxury Underwater Adventure
To cater to the ultra-high-net-worth audience, brands have partnered to create remarkable products like the Sea Bob. After launching the F9, a model co-designed with Porsche, they presented the F63, a new marine toy designed by Lamborghini. This ultra-luxury device allows riders to experience underwater adventures at depths of up to 25 meters and speeds of 50 km/h, with a range of approximately 60 minutes per charge.
