French nautical engineering company Global Yacht Technology has made waves in the yachting world with the unveiling of their new 31-meter trimaran yacht model, known as Anahita. This announcement, made during the esteemed Metstrade exhibition, marks a significant milestone for the company, which has its roots in the picturesque Brittany region of France. What makes this reveal even more exciting is the news that the first unit of Anahita has already been sold and is currently under construction, with delivery scheduled for 2027.
Lightweight Design and Construction
At the heart of Anahita’s cutting-edge design is its construction material: pre-impregnated and infused carbon fiber. This innovation enables the yacht to achieve an astonishingly light displacement of just 35 tonnes, making it nearly 60% lighter than a traditional yacht of the same length. This reduction in weight not only enhances performance but also contributes to improved fuel efficiency, making it an eco-friendly choice for luxury sailing.
The Appeal of Trimaran Architecture
Global Yacht Technology co-founder Ronan Guérin explained the rationale behind choosing a trimaran design. “The trimaran quickly emerged as the obvious choice,” he stated, highlighting its advantages over other yacht types. Trimarans are noted for their stability, power, and safety—all essential attributes for comfortable ocean voyages. Furthermore, Anahita’s design promises a level of performance and comfort that elevates the experience of luxury yachting beyond traditional norms.
Expert Contributions to Design and Construction
The sleek, sculptural lines of Anahita’s exterior are a product of the renowned VPLP Design studio, which is also responsible for its naval architecture. Meanwhile, the elegant interiors, designed by Christophe Chedal Anglay, aim to create a “home at sea” atmosphere. Construction will be completed by the French shipyard CDK Technologies, ensuring that Anahita meets the stringent standards of BV Class.
Comprehensive Living Spaces
Anahita offers a remarkable 123 square meters of full-custom living spaces on board. The design features a spacious owner’s suite that boasts panoramic views and direct access to the deck, complemented by a dedicated crew area accommodating four individuals. Each living area is modular and can be tailored to meet individual client preferences.
Outdoor spaces have been thoughtfully designed as well, with a sizable cockpit, expansive decks, and 160 square meters of forward trampolines—a unique feature dubbed the “forward deck garden,” enhancing both leisure and social experiences on the water.
Design Inspirations and Performance
The final profile of Anahita draws inspiration from the water strider, an insect celebrated for its speed, stability, and precision. VPLP designer Yann Prummel emphasized that Anahita is conceived as a wind-driven vessel, meticulously designed to glide through waves with the agility reminiscent of a Formula 1 car or an aircraft.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was balancing the mass of the central hull while ensuring a harmonious integration of interior and exterior volumes. Ultimately, Anahita achieves a striking balance between the sleekness of a racing yacht and the ample comforts of a cruising vessel, establishing a unique identity in the yacht market.
Speed and Accessibility
Anahita is designed not just for elegance but also for speed. She is expected to cruise comfortably at 25 knots, allowing for expedient Atlantic crossings in a mere six days. Her shallow draft of just two meters enables access to secluded and pristine anchorages, opening up opportunities for exploration of hidden gems in coastal paradises.
