    During the Technology and Innovation Workshop dedicated to the presentation of the components of the first Ferrari elettrica, the Hypersail team unveiled a preview of the technologies for energy management on the boat developed under the direction of Team Principal Giovanni Soldini.

    The uniqueness of the Hypersail project lies in its bidirectional technological transfer from the realm of high-performance sports cars to the nautical sector. The solutions adopted onboard are largely influenced by the advanced systems developed for hybrid vehicles, paving new pathways for energy management in sailing.

    This groundbreaking initiative aims to create a flying monohull that is completely energy self-sufficient. By harnessing renewable energy sources, the boat will power all its onboard systems, showcasing a sustainable future for sailing fueled by innovative technologies.

    Led by Ferrari’s engineering team, the Hypersail project has already yielded numerous patents and groundbreaking technologies that are set to redefine the nautical industry. Many of these innovations have the potential to be integrated into future Ferrari sports cars, bridging two distinct worlds into one shared vision for sustainability and performance.

    Among the project’s most significant innovations is the rear axle developed for the Ferrari elettrica. This component is harnessed to generate hydraulic pressures necessary for operating various systems on the boat, including sails, foils, and keels. Additionally, two DC-DC modules (800V-48V-12V), initially designed for the Ferrari F80, enhance energy management on board, ensuring efficiency and reliability even in extreme conditions.

    The entire electrical and electronic architecture is meticulously designed to maximize energy flow while minimizing loss. Advanced control algorithms play a pivotal role, optimizing how energy is distributed across the boat’s complex systems.

    In sync with automotive methodologies, the Hypersail project employs a comprehensive development process that begins with virtual design simulations. This approach includes the creation of dedicated test benches aimed at preemptively identifying potential issues and shortening system debugging times—a testament to Ferrari’s commitment to engineering excellence.
