The Sale of the 49.9-Metre Turquoise Yachts Motor Yacht Mosaique
The luxury yacht market continues to thrive, and the recent sale of the 49.9-metre Mosaique, constructed by Turquoise Yachts, is a shining example. Represented by an esteemed partnership of brokers—Stuart Larsen from Fraser and Merle Wood and John Cohen from Merle Wood & Associates—the yacht was officially sold in 2022, with Merle Wood & Associates also acting as representatives for the buyer.
Design and Construction
Mosaique was delivered in 2002, a stunning creation crafted from steel and aluminium at a Turkish shipyard. She meets the rigor of ABS class and MCA compliance, ensuring both safety and excellence in nautical standards. Designed by renowned architects Dubois Naval Architects, she boasts an elegant profile that has endured the test of time.
The yacht underwent a significant refit in 2015 that modernized her aesthetics and functionality, followed by a hull repaint in 2020 that introduced an eye-catching “Marlin Blue” hue. The most recent enhancements, including a comprehensive interior refresh and a thorough 20-year ABS class survey, were completed in 2022, ensuring she’s in pristine condition upon sale.
Market Dynamics and Price Adjustments
The sale of Mosaique came on the heels of notable price adjustments, signaling shifts in market dynamics. After a reduction of $1,400,000 in March, the price dropped by an additional $600,000 in September, leading up to her final listing price of $11,900,000. Insights from BOATPro indicate that such reductions may have prompted increased interest in this luxurious vessel.
Interior Design Highlights
The original interior of Mosaique was envisioned by American designer Donald Starkey, whose sophisticated layout and intricate details were crucial to the yacht’s charm. However, the interiors received a transformative revamp in 2022 under the talented designer Kristina Ferrand.
Ferrand preserved the elegance of Starkey’s design while introducing a “Hamptons Beach” style that emphasizes casual elegance. The interiors feature white wood accents, soft neutral fabrics, and delicate blue touches, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere throughout the yacht.
Accommodation and Amenities
Mosaique comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests in six lavish cabins. The layout includes a notably spacious VIP suite on the main deck and a full-beam master suite complete with a private study, expansive Honey-onyx bathroom, and his-and-her dressing rooms. Additionally, three double cabins and a twin cabin are available for guests on the lower deck, alongside crew quarters for up to 12 staff members.
The main deck saloon is a highlight of the yacht, characterized by its stately wooden panelling and oversized windows that invite an abundance of natural light. This inviting space offers comfortable seating, a bar, and a comprehensive entertainment centre equipped with a TV and games room. Sliding glass doors lead from the lounge to a formal dining area that accommodates up to 12 guests.
Outdoor Spaces
Mosaique boasts a wealth of outdoor spaces designed for relaxation and social interaction. The expansive aft deck features built-in seating and an al fresco dining area, with steps leading down to the swim platform for easy access to the water. The foredeck offers another open-air retreat, complete with luxurious sunpads for sunbathing and unwinding.
On the sundeck, luxury shines with a whirlpool surrounded by sun loungers, a bar, and open-air gym equipment, creating an excellent space for both leisure and fitness. Another dining area is strategically located on the bridge deck aft, featuring an oval teak table that can comfortably seat up to 16 guests, perfectly shaded by the sundeck above.
Performance and Technology
Equipped with twin 1,100hp Caterpillar engines, Mosaique promises impressive performance on the water. Her engines, which were rebuilt during the last refit, provide a cruising speed of 12 knots and a maximum speed of 15 knots, translating into a formidable range of 4,500 nautical miles while cruising at 14 knots. Additionally, the yacht is fitted with Quantum zero-speed stabilisers to ensure a smooth and stable experience at anchor.
In the world of luxury yachting, Mosaique stands as a testament to exquisite craftsmanship and timeless elegance, making her latest sale a remarkable milestone in the high-end yacht market.
